Questionnaires
After the registration period for candidates was closed, Back the Badge mailed a questionnaire containing ten questions to candidates for House of Representatives and Senate.

These are Oklahoma congressional offices. We selected those house and senate districts that had some portion of their boundaries in either the City of Tulsa, or Tulsa County. There are numerous districts that meet the criteria. VoteSmart
In evaluating the responses, we used a modified through grading system based on what we remember from grade school. We did not use any plus (+) or minus (-) marks. Just the letter grades.
If a candidate responded to our questions they automatically made a passing grade. That also indicated that they were at least interested in working with us through the campaign as well as later, once they obtain or keep their office. We got 12 response about which we were very pleased.
It is not the position of Back the Badge that a candidate or incumbent agree with us on every issue all of the time. Integrity, openness, willingness to listen, hear and sometimes learn, are many times more important that agreement.
For a quick review you can look at the grades given. For a more detailed review, look at the questionnaires themselves.

Jeff Applekamp
Of the ten questions he answered 6 in a manner that were positive to our efforts and 4 that were neutral. Internet research shows him to be a serious candidate in a field of several serious candidates. |

Gary Stanislawski
According to the Tulsa Word he is the 59-year-old is vice president of the Jenks School Board and a certified financial planner. He returned the questionnaire late and incomplete but since he returned it he gets a passing grade. Please read his answers. |

Cason Carter
According to the Tulsa World he was at one time out in front with fund raising. He appears to be a strong candidate. A recent tour of the north part of District 35 revealed several yard signs of his especially compared to other candidates. During his tenure with the Tulsa City Council he presented himself to us as a strong supporter of ours. In action, he showed that he would ride the fence until he was certain what action was best for his political career. There were times that worked in our favor, and we see that. However, a legislator needs to represent an area, and that does not strike us as the way to do it. |

Keith Eisenberger and Janet K. Sullivan
No grade and no recommendation. Neither returned a questionnaire and we have no previous experience with them. |
House Disrict 9

Bill Snyder
Mr. Snyder gave thoughtful and reasoned responses to our questions. He appears to have a background in journalism and is a long time resident of the Claremore/Oolagah area he is wishing to represent. |
House District 23

Connie Dodson
Mrs. Dodson gave strong responses to all of our questions except the last question that dealt with HB1804. She indicated that the immigration matter is still rather muddy for everyone so we give her credit for her effort in considering that subject. |

Lucky Lamons
Retired TPD, lifetime FOP member. Always responsive to us when we have contacted him. In a few instances he has had to educate us on matters. Lucky has helped guide this PAC and our efforts. We see eye-to-eye much of the time. His opponent did not respond to our questionnaire. Research for yourself. It appears his opponent is not strong on law and order. |

Pam Peterson
She answered the questionnaire and went over and above in her efforts to make certain we got it by the deadline. She also was very accommodating when we contacted her for some clarification. She is strong on our law and order issues and she sounds as if she will at least give us a listen on our funding, and labor issues. |
House District 72

John Slater
Lists himself as a member of the NRA and Patriot Guard Riders which can have some appeal to many police or other law enforcement officers. We commend him for throwing his hat into the ring. His answers were succinct. |
House District 74

David Derby
Formerly TPD Forensic Lab David Derby for those of you who are scratching your memory chips. Owasso and North Tulsa County area is his district. Gave good and knowledgeable answers to our questions. As an incumbent he has voted for COLAs for the retirees. Stated he did not want to change the FPAA until all parties agreed. Read his answers and go to his website Òderby74Ó for more info. |

Jeannie McDaniel
One of our own members tried for this seat in the past. Fortunately for us, and unfortunately for his family, illnesses in his family kept him out of this race. Had he been running, we as a PAC would have been a bit torn. Mrs. McDaniel answered all of our questions with thoughtfulness and what appeared to be true sincerity. If you take time to read her responses she spoke well of the information provided her in the past by FOP lobbyists and leaders. |
House District 80

Mike Ritze
Dr. Ritze Answered all of our questions strongly. He is seeking the district that covers Southeast Tulsa County, mostly Broken Arrow. Stated he teaches CLEET courses and has close family members in the Broken Arrow Police Department. His answers reflected a good familiarity with police related issues. |

Greg Frederick
Mr. Frederick only answered 4 of the 10 questions. As we said, just by responding he gets a passing grade! His literature indicates he is a teacher at East Central High School. |
